About The Position

UPMC East is seeking a nurse to join the team in a casual or limited casual status. The Professional Staff Nurse (PSN) is a Registered Nurse and part of the care delivery team. They set standards for the level and quality of care, holding responsibility, authority, and accountability for nursing care. The PSN manages and provides patient care for a group of patients and their families, using independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members. This role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision, and involves establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare providers, patients, and families. The PSN demonstrates commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience.
• Limited Casual Nurses: Commit to just 30 shifts per calendar year—choose from 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts to meet your needs.
• Regular Casual Nurses: Work 36 hours across 3 pay periods, with one holiday shift per year.
• Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Act 34
• Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
