About The Position

VAST Data is seeking a Professional Services Engineer to join their growing team. VAST Data is a fast-growing infrastructure company focused on being the data platform for the AI era, building enterprise software infrastructure to capture, catalog, refine, enrich, and protect massive datasets for real-time data analysis and AI training and inference. The company aims to simplify AI deployment and management by reducing cost and complexity across data center, edge, and cloud. The Professional Services Engineer (PSE) will be responsible for ensuring a 'pristine first experience of VAST' by providing technical expertise and completing onsite activities across the install base. These activities include hardware rack, stack, cable and label, VAST software installation, cluster re-location, expansions, and occasional break-fix requests. The PSE is expected to be highly technical, calm under pressure, communicative, detail-oriented, and capable of resolving unexpected issues. They will also act as process owners for field activities, contributing their expertise to training and runbooks for VAST partners and Customer Support.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a similar technical role, with expertise in data storage technologies, such as SAN, NAS, DAS, and cloud storage.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing data storage solutions in complex environments.
• Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies, including VMware and Docker.
• Familiarity with Networking, switch configuration and troubleshooting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with customers and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to safely lift 65-90 lbs.
• Travel: 75% - must be near major international airport.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot the VAST Data solution in customer environments, ensuring it is fully operational and meets performance standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide input on product development and process improvement.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices related to AI and storage.
• Stay current and knowledgeable of latest VAST software releases.
