About The Position

The David S. Congdon School of Entrepreneurship at High Point University is seeking a new colleague to teach in the Professional Sales program. The successful candidate will possess at least 10 years of professional experience, with demonstrated leadership, reputation, and advancement in the selling profession. A master's or equivalent degree with some professional sales experience is required. The role involves teaching a variety of undergraduate sales courses such as Selling, Negotiating, Sales Leadership, and Retail Selling. Depending on qualifications, there is potential to teach more specialized courses. The standard teaching load at High Point University is three or four four-credit-hour courses per semester on a 9-month contract, with opportunities for summer teaching. Additionally, the successful candidate will undertake administrative duties including academic advising and university service.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of professional experience.
  • Clear evidence of leadership, reputation and advancement in the selling profession.
  • A master’s or equivalent degree with some professional sales experience.
  • A commitment to quality teaching, professional growth, and university service.
  • Being a good communicator, collaborator and team player who can thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, extraordinary environment.
  • Qualified to work in the USA.

Nice To Haves

  • University-level teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate sales courses, such as Selling, Negotiating, Sales Leadership, and Retail Selling.
  • Potentially teach more specialized courses depending on qualifications.
  • Provide mentorship and advice to students in and beyond the classroom.
  • Maintain a professional self-development program.
  • Act as a representative and advocate for the program, school, and university.
  • Participate in committees within the department, school, and university.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department chair.
  • Have other administrative responsibilities such as academic advising and university service.
