About The Position

The Professional Program Assistant will oversee justice-involved youth attending Day Reporting at the Juvenile Services Center. Key responsibilities include ensuring youth progress with online assignments and developing lesson plans for those not in online programs or during school breaks. The assistant will engage with community stakeholders such as schools, community service sites, and program providers. This role requires becoming certified in and facilitating programs for justice-involved youth and families, including Parent Project and cognitive education programs. The Program Specialist will also identify enrichment opportunities for youth within the community. Additional duties involve providing agency transportation for youth to programming and community service, supervising youth during pro-social activities both on and off-site, and maintaining daily documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, and one year of related program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Working knowledge of the juvenile justice system
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Must be able to present self and program professionally
  • Must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License and an excellent driving record
  • Must pass NCIC criminal records check and abuse registry check
  • Pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen
  • Submit proof of identity and employment eligibility

Responsibilities
