About The Position

Join Our Growing Engineering Team Sustainable Energy Services (SES), the engineering division of Huckestein Mechanical Services, is seeking an experienced Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) to help lead the development of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and educational facilities. This is not a traditional consulting engineering position. We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving real-world problems, spending time in the field, collaborating with project managers and foremen, and developing practical, constructible designs that can be successfully built. Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Pennsylvania (additional state registrations are a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years of HVAC and plumbing design experience.
  • Strong background in renovation and retrofit projects.
  • Experience with Design-Build delivery.
  • Working knowledge of Plan & Specification projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Revit preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE
  • Strong knowledge of IMC
  • Strong knowledge of IPC
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA
  • Strong knowledge of IECC
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, educational, and industrial facilities.
  • Develop complete permit and construction documents.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations.
  • Size HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, steam, chilled water, and refrigeration piping systems.
  • Select mechanical and plumbing equipment.
  • Develop equipment schedules and specifications.
  • Prepare engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Revit (Revit preferred).
  • Visit project sites to evaluate existing systems.
  • Verify field conditions.
  • Develop as-built documentation.
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend practical solutions.
  • Work closely with owners during facility assessments.
  • Work closely with estimating during conceptual budgeting.
  • Support Project Managers during construction.
  • Respond to RFIs.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assist with field coordination and problem solving.
  • Participate in design-build planning meetings.
  • Serve as a technical resource for Project Managers and Estimators.
  • Assist in developing engineering standards and best practices.
  • Support commissioning and owner training when required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers as the engineering department grows.
