About The Position
The Citadel Math Lab is seeking reliable and enthusiastic Professional Math Tutors to provide academic support to students in a collaborative learning environment. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about mathematics, communicate effectively, and enjoy helping students build confidence and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of college-level mathematics.
- Be punctual, dependable, and professional.
- Communicate mathematical concepts clearly to students with varying skill levels.
- Be comfortable using student-centered and differentiated instructional strategies.
Nice To Haves
- Calculus II or higher
- Physics or Engineering coursework
- Financial Mathematics
- Microsoft Excel
- Graphing technology (TI-84, TI-89, and Desmos)
Responsibilities
- Welcome students and check them in for their scheduled appointments.
- Provide individualized, student-centered academic support tailored to each student's learning needs.
- Encourage students to develop problem-solving skills rather than simply providing answers.
- Complete a tutoring session report following each appointment.
- Encourage students to complete the Math Lab exit survey at the conclusion of each session.
- Record student no-shows when applicable.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
- During afternoon hours, comfortably manage multiple students simultaneously (up to four students at one time) and, when appropriate, facilitate small-group tutoring sessions.
