About The Position
The Kaufman Dolowich Woodbury, Long Island office is seeking a Professional Liability Associate Attorney to join our growing and highly regarded Professional Liability Defense Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced litigators on sophisticated professional liability matters in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Our attorneys receive meaningful hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and strong mentorship while representing professionals, businesses, and insurers in complex litigation matters. Associates are given the opportunity to take an active role in all phases of litigation, including case strategy, motion practice, depositions, mediations, court appearances, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate will be a motivated attorney who is eager to develop litigation skills, assume increasing responsibility, and build a successful long-term practice within a growing national law firm.
Requirements
- Admission to practice in New York required
- 2–5 years of litigation and/or professional liability defense experience
- Strong writing, research, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment
- Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills

- Legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, insurance broker liability, or other professional liability matters
- Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances
- Experience working with insurers and insured professionals
Responsibilities
- Handle all phases of professional liability defense litigation from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents
- Conduct legal research and assist with litigation strategy and case analysis
- Manage discovery, prepare for and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation
- Communicate directly with clients, insurers, opposing counsel, and witnesses while providing regular case updates and strategic guidance
- Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters
- Provide proactive case management and client reporting
