About The Position

Curriculum Associates is seeking a Professional Learning Specialist (ELA) to join their team. This role is ideal for educators transitioning out of the classroom who are passionate about creating equitable classrooms and want to remain connected to a school community. The specialist will provide targeted professional development, ongoing in-classroom support, data analysis, project management, and communication with district and site leaders. The position focuses on making a direct impact on how schools teach ELA to students in grades K-8. The role involves working with various stakeholders, attending educational conferences, experiencing new environments, collaborating in a supportive virtual community, and helping districts implement impactful products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2+ years of experience in teaching ELA, coaching teachers of ELA, and providing ELA professional development.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for ELA, Grades K-8 (or comparable state standards), including content and practice standards.
  • Fluency with using digital tools including online assessments.
  • High level of comfort discussing and applying data with teachers and leaders.
  • Understand principles of adult learning and how to apply them to professional development.
  • Ability to manage, monitor, evaluate, and ensure integrity of program implementations.
  • Able to provide high-quality classroom coaching to ensure teachers have the skills necessary to deliver CA solutions effectively.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching ELA at the secondary (6-12) level.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ELA or ELA education.
  • Understanding of the Math Standards for K-8.

Responsibilities

  • Support district-wide adoptions of the Ready program and the i-Ready online diagnostic and instruction program.
  • Deliver professional development to teachers, coaches, and leaders on effective implementation of Ready and i-Ready.
  • Provide on-site targeted support to teachers, coaches, and leaders, including lesson planning, pacing support, data analysis, and identifying implementation successes and challenges.
  • Work with district and site leaders to develop and revise annual professional development plans and schedules.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Curriculum Associates, embodying the company's mission-driven approach.
