About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno College of Education & Human Development, Excellence in Disabilities team is recruiting for multiple Professional Learning Coordinators. These positions will design, develop, and deliver expert-level professional development to various external partners, including district and building administrators. The content created by the Professional Learning Coordinators may also be used by District MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) Trainers for school team trainings. The Coordinators will work collaboratively with agency/district and school leadership teams to execute multi-year training plans that align with state-wide goals and evidence-based best practices, ultimately driving improved academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes for all youth. This pivotal role is responsible for building the capacity of schools and school districts across the state to successfully implement and sustain the MTSS framework. Duties include but are not limited to: Design, develop, and continuously improve a comprehensive suite of professional development modules, resources, and materials related to all facets of MTSS. Translate complex research and national best practices in tiered instruction, intervention, data-based decision making, and systems change into practical and accessible content for educators. Create a variety of engaging training materials, including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, presentation decks, e-learning modules, and video resources. Ensure all content is culturally responsive, aligned with state standards and processes, and adaptable to the diverse needs of districts (urban, suburban, rural, frontier). Collaborate with other state-level specialists (e.g., Academic, Behavior, Mental Health, Early Childhood, Juvenile Justice, etc.) to ensure cohesive and integrated content. Deliver engaging, high-quality professional development to a range of high-level professionals, including district coordinators, principals, instructional coaches, and school leadership teams. Work directly with the MTSS Training Manager to conduct needs assessments and develop customized, multi-year MTSS implementation and training plans. Facilitate state-wide and regional communities of practice to foster collaboration, shared learning, and leadership development among district practitioners. Serve as a subject matter expert and key thought partner for the Nevada MTSS on all matters related to content expertise (Academic Systems, Mental Health, Behavior Systems, Early Childhood, Juvenile Justice).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and three years of related experience; OR a master’s degree and two years of related experience.
  • Related Experience: Experience in a state technical assistance center OR teaching in a K-12 educational setting.
  • Direct experience leading or coordinating the implementation of MTSS / Response to Intervention (RTI)/School Mental Health / Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) or other evidence-based practices (e.g., specific literacy/math interventions, instructional coaching) at the school, district, or state level.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering high-impact professional development for adult learners, particularly school administrators and teacher leaders.
