McKim & Creed currently has an exciting opportunity to join our Planning Development and Natural Resources (PDNR) group as a Licensed Landscape Architect at our Wilmington, NC location. The Licensed Landscape Architect position involves due diligence, design, planning, limited site observation, and provides opportunities for creative expression and problem-solving in a collaborative and supportive work environment. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess a blend of creativity & technical skills, have strong design & communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Requirements

  • NC, SC or FL Professional (Licensed) Landscape Architect
  • 5-10 years of experience in land (site) development.
  • Expertise in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, LandF/X)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively work with clients, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record

Responsibilities

  • Site Analysis and Evaluation: Assessing existing site conditions, including soil, topography, hydrology, and environmental factors, to ensure sustainable and effective design solutions to Client’s programmatic goals.
  • Design and Planning: Developing site plans, landscaping designs, and detailed drawings (hand-drawn and digitally produced) for various projects, such as master development plans, subdivision plans, commercial, multi-family residential and municipal projects, etc.
  • Communication: Collaborating with the Project Manager, Client and Project Team in regards to the needs and vision of the project, providing design options, and presenting design plans to the Client and reviewing agencies.
  • Professional Development: Keeping up with industry trends, technologies, and regulations, and potentially mentoring junior staff.
