About The Position

Brice Engineering LLC is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor to join their team. The company has a legacy of over 50 years, focusing on financial security, health and wellness programs, and a dynamic culture. Brice Engineering specializes in providing solutions for environmental site investigations and facility design and construction. The Professional Land Surveyor will be responsible for utilizing surveying equipment, collecting and using spatial data for mapping and construction, creating maps and report figures, and organizing and managing data for reporting.

Requirements

  • Current Professional Land Surveyor license from the State of Alaska.
  • Over 8 years of experience in a survey crew.
  • Associate of Science degree in survey engineering, land surveying, geodesy, remote sensing, or related discipline.
  • Strong experience in the theory and practice of collecting and reducing survey data.
  • Experience in construction surveying, machine control modeling, and civil construction projects.
  • Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, in addition to Microsoft Access.
  • Adept at understanding map projections, vertical and geodetic datums, and coordinate system transformations.
  • Adept at understanding technical aspects of field work for conversion to maps and graphics.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Surveying with RTK GPS survey equipment, survey grade equipment, or total station to collect data for environmental projects (e.g., boring locations, field screening locations, sample locations).
  • Collecting data and providing layout locations and topography surveys for various projects using survey equipment.
  • Managing, processing, and ensuring the quality of survey data received from the field.
  • Inputting and plotting coordinates from surveyor's data and field notes.
  • Conducting surveys using differential leveling and Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS.
  • Developing geodatabases compliant with client standards using ESRI software (ArcGIS Standard and ArcGIS Pro).
  • Integrating geodatabases with other data management tools.
  • Producing maps using raster and vector spatial data structures.
  • Preparing maps with point, line, and polygon datasets.
  • Establishing and updating metadata.
  • Incorporating AutoCAD drawings into ArcGIS mapping.
  • Ensuring good cartography and engineering design with proper scaling.
  • Producing maps using raster and vector spatial data structures with AutoCAD software (Civil 3D/Map3D/Raster Design).
  • Preparing maps with point, line, and polygon datasets using AutoCAD software.
  • Editing shapefile data using CAD drafting tools.
  • Processing data from the field into database and map deliverables.
  • Collecting, creating, and managing survey data, including the design and use of relational databases and querying tools.
