About The Position

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor to join their Building and Sites Services group in the Springfield, MO office. This is not a remote position. CMT is a fast-growing firm with over 500 employees across 25 offices in 10 states, serving clients through four primary business groups: Aviation, Surface Transportation, Water Resources, and Building & Site Services. CMT provides a wide range of services including planning, environmental, design, and construction observation on projects of varying complexity.

Requirements

  • Flexibility to support field operations when needed.
  • Missouri Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license, including required education to obtain a PLS.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional land surveying experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong math and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with discipline-specific Trimble equipment including GPS, robotic total stations, survey controllers, and Trimble Business Center Office Software.
  • Must be reliable and responsible with a strong professional work ethic and approach.
  • Ability to pass a drug/alcohol screen for specific clients.
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record and valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability and interest to be licensed in multiple states as a Professional Land Surveyor.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and OpenRoads.
  • Geospatial interest including drone mapping/licensure, terrestrial scanning, and GIS experience.
  • Proficient with data management, field-to-finish procedures, and point cloud processing.
  • Business development involvement including proposal and contract preparation and building strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and perform ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Plat of Highways, Route Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Subdivision Plats, Topographic/Design Surveys, and Construction Staking on private and public projects.
  • Maintain and adhere to QA/QC procedures.
  • Coordinate survey work orders, project management and scheduling.
  • Verify construction plan accuracy.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure projects are completed to requirements, specifications, and budgets.
  • Perform public record searches, legal description preparation, and land title policy review.
  • Sign and seal survey documents.
  • May be involved with construction calculations and layout and/or as-built surveys.
  • Supervise survey field personnel and mentor SITs.
