Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Current coding credentials from AHIMA or AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H)
5+ years of coding experience
2+ years of experience working with Hospitalist and Intensivist coding experience
Intermediate level of proficiency with Windows environment including MS Excel and EMR systems & billing systems

Nice To Haves

2+ years of ICD-10 experience
2+ years of inpatient professional coding experience

Responsibilities

Identify appropriate assignment of CPT-4 and modifiers for Inpatient professional services provided in a hospital setting
Abstract additional data elements during the chart review process when coding, as needed
Adhere to the ethical standards of coding as established by AAPC and / or AHIMA
Adhere to and maintain required levels of performance in both coding quality and productivity as established by Optum360
Proficiency in coding hospitalist and intensivist services based on coding guidelines
Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate
Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge by reviewing materials disseminated / recommended by the Coding Supervisors
Participate in coding department meetings and educational events
Review and maintain a record of charts coded, held, and / or missing
All other duties as assigned
