This position evaluates complex coupled fluid-heat transfer challenges, supports aircraft right-sizing and design decisions, prepares and documents analysis and test results, and develops engineering practice documentation to support consistent technical execution.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, internal flow analysis, and coupled fluid-thermal systems
  • Knowledge of CFD analysis methods, finite element analysis concepts, aircraft system performance, and in-flight icing considerations
  • Working knowledge of Star-CCM+, Ansys Fluent, SpaceClaim, SimCenter3D, and Microsoft Office products, including advanced Excel
  • Familiarity with inlet and outlet design, pipe network flow, test planning, ground testing, and flight test documentation
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field required
  • Coursework or experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, in-flight icing, CFD analysis, and thermal systems required
  • Minimum of five to eight years of experience in internal flow CFD analysis required
  • Experience performing complex CFD and finite element analyses required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of programming, complex codes, Unix operating systems, high-performance computing interfaces, and languages such as Fortran, Visual Basic, C++, C#, or Python is preferred
  • Experience with inlet/outlet design and analysis, high-performance computing, or programming is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex computational analyses involving coupled fluid-heat transfer, pipe network flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and aircraft-related thermal challenges
  • Conduct internal flow CFD analysis to support aircraft design, system performance, and component sizing decisions
  • Interpret analysis results within the context of aircraft design requirements, right-sizing, reliability, safety, and performance objectives
  • Prepare engineering test plans for analysis validation, ground testing, flight testing, and related technical evaluations
  • Document analysis results, assumptions, methodologies, ground test findings, flight test findings, and technical recommendations
  • Develop, write, and update engineering practice documents, procedures, and technical standards as required
  • Use CFD, finite element, CAD, and simulation tools to model complex thermal-fluid behavior and support design trade studies
