About The Position

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Professional Civil Engineer to join our team in a remote position based in Smithers, BC, while working closely with our Williams Lake Branch. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of municipal engineering, private development and First Nation capital projects throughout the region. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of projects, including water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems; road and transportation improvements; site preparation and earthworks; subdivisions; and private development projects. The role will provide opportunities to work through all stages of projects, from planning and design through to construction and project completion, while collaborating with clients, contractors, First Nations, municipalities, and other professionals. Requirements

  • 5 plus years of relevant professional experience
  • Registered with EGBC
  • Strong understanding of water system hydraulics, open channel and pipe flow, transportation, land development, First Nation Capital and road design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good research and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to define problems, prioritize tasks, and maintain a community-driven perspective.
  • Genuine curiosity, a desire to innovate, and expand personal and company knowledge.
  • A Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Computer competency, experience with Civil 3D, WaterCAD, PCSWMM, or GIS should be highlighted
  • A valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers Licence

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee detailed design of municipal, First Nation and land development projects in the Smithers area, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and other documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff, supporting professional development and knowledge-sharing.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with project teams of other experienced Engineers, EITs, technologists, and other professionals.
  • Travel within the region as needed to develop, maintain and strengthen client relationships, provide field inspection support and conduct periodic construction inspections and documentation.
  • Preparation of contract documents and specifications, cost estimate, tender administration and contract administration during construction.
