About The Position

Our employee-owned and integrated team of multi-discipline engineering and design professionals is looking for a Project Manager / Professional Mechanical Engineer who has extensive experience managing a portfolio of various heavy industrial projects and thorough knowledge of mechanical design standards and requirements in relation to heavy industrial operations and processes. As a member of our team, we will leverage your project management talents to deliver full-service, multi-discipline solutions for complex plant/building and site operations systems within heavy industrial sectors, including mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals. As a project manager, you would lead project teams for a variety of projects ranging from facility design to demolition and from balance of plant to material handling, and you would be responsible for all technical, quality, and financial aspects of a project from conception through construction. In addition to project management, you would assist with market development efforts by collaborating with the technical group managers, market managers, and division leadership to further advance our services by contributing to the development of business plans, maintaining client relations, developing proposals, and participating in client presentations. Furthermore, as a professional mechanical engineer, you will have the opportunity to showcase your technical expertise by scoping project requirements, leading design efforts, verifying calculations and validating equipment sizing and selection, developing detailed drawings, and drafting technical specifications and reports. You will also have the opportunity to share your knowledge and professional experiences by mentoring and developing less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer with ten or more years of progressive technical design experience with an emphasis on design of industrial ventilation and dust collection systems, HVAC and/or pumping and process piping systems.
  • Prior experience designing systems for mining or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Prior experience managing multi-discipline projects with service fees in excess of $300,000.00 per year.
  • Previous experience coordinating design standards and requirements with other disciplines, including architecture, civil, electrical, and structural.
  • Previous experience conducting construction administration responsibilities including observation and inspection.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to apply effective verbal and written communication skills when writing specifications, preparing technical reports, contributing to or leading project team discussions, and participating client consultations and interviews.
  • Ability to travel as requested for project assignments (up to 10%).
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License with an ability to maintain a driving record that is in compliance with company requirements.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future visa sponsorship needs or requirements.

  • Professional registration in multiple states.
  • Previous experience responding to Requests for Proposals, including estimating mechanical design fees.
  • Desire or demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced professionals on technical design standards.
  • Previous experience with boiler and/or chiller system design for facilities.
  • Previous experience with district heating and cooling, lab ventilation, or fire protection.
  • Previous experience designing systems for mining facilities.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or Plant 3D.
