About The Position

Morabito Consultants, Inc. (MC) is a structural engineering and building remediation firm with nearly 40 years of experience providing exceptional client services and high-quality design. MC handles over 400 projects annually, ranging from residential homes to large commercial facilities, with construction values from $200 thousand to $200 million. MC fosters a collaborative culture where employees are encouraged to contribute ideas, share expertise, and support each other. We are currently seeking an experienced Building Remediation Professional Engineer to join our Baltimore-area team. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of relevant experience, with a strong focus on condominium and multifamily remediation work.

Requirements

Work authorization (Required). Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (Required).
Licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland, or eligible to obtain Maryland licensure by comity (Required).
8+ years of building remediation experience in the Baltimore region and surrounding Mid-Atlantic markets.
Experience evaluating occupied condominiums and multifamily buildings in the Baltimore region and surrounding Mid-Atlantic markets.
Familiar with concrete deterioration, corrosion, waterproofing, balconies, façades, parking structures, roofs, and other common building-envelope and structural repair needs.
Strong technical and business judgment.
Reliable, responsive, ethical, and willing to travel throughout the Baltimore region and surrounding Mid-Atlantic area as needed.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Able to lead teams and explain technical and cost issues to clients.
Experience working with condominium and homeowners associations, boards, community association managers, property managers, and owners.
Familiar with reserve studies, capital repair planning, condition assessments, and the construction and maintenance issues common to condominium and multifamily properties.
Willingness to travel: 30% to 50% within the Baltimore region and surrounding Mid-Atlantic area (Required).
Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work if necessary.
Primarily in-office at MC's Baltimore-area office.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
Preparation of repair drawings and specs.
Structural calculation design skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead condition assessments.
Develop repair recommendations.
Prepare reports and repair documents.
Perform structural analysis.
Provide technical review.
Manage remediation projects from investigation and proposal through design, permitting, bidding, construction, and closeout.
Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
Lead meetings, communicate repair priorities and costs, and work in occupied buildings.
Identify project opportunities and prepare scopes and fee proposals.
Conduct quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, bid forms, scopes of work, bid comparisons, and change-order reviews.
Review submittals and RFIs.
Perform site visits.
Document progress and deficiencies.
Review payment applications.
Resolve field issues.
Build relationships with condominium and homeowners association boards, community association managers, property managers, attorneys, contractors, and architects.
