Summer Job for Teachers – Baseball & Softball Educator ($23/hr)
About The Position
Mets Baseball & Softball Camps is hiring Professional Educators to lead campers ages 5–12 in structured, skills-based baseball and softball instruction throughout the tri-state area (NY, CT & NJ). This role is ideal for certified teachers or professional educators who understand the fundamentals of baseball or softball, enjoy working with elementary-aged students, have classroom experience, feel confident teaching sports fundamentals, and prefer active, outdoor learning environments. This is a structured, weekday-only summer position, specifically seeking educators who can combine strong classroom management with fundamental sports instruction. We provide curriculum, equipment, and training.
Requirements
- Certified teacher or professional educator
- Understand the fundamentals of baseball or softball
- Enjoy working with elementary-aged students
- Have classroom experience
- Confident teaching baseball or softball fundamentals
- Enjoy active, outdoor learning environments
- Structured, weekday-only summer position
- Combine strong classroom management with fundamental sports instruction
- Experience teaching children ages 5–12
- Confident demonstrating and correcting fundamental baseball or softball skills
- Maintain strong classroom management in an outdoor setting
- Lead with enthusiasm, structure, and accountability
- Dependable and professional
- Have at least 1 full school year of paid teaching experience
- Provide proof of teaching certification (preferred but not required if equivalent experience proof can be provided)
- Reliable transportation required
Nice To Haves
- Teachers who have played or coached baseball/softball at a high school level or above
- Educators with youth sports coaching experience
- 3–5 week minimum commitment preferred
Responsibilities
- Teach and reinforce core baseball/softball fundamentals
- Lead age-appropriate skill development drills for campers ages 5–12
- Execute our structured Mets Camps curriculum with consistency and energy
- Create a safe, positive, and accountable camp environment
- Identify teachable moments during drills and games
- Work collaboratively with Site Directors and coaching staff
