Requirements

  • Valid Class A license.
  • Valid Medical Card.
  • A minimum of 2 years verifiable driving experience.
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 24 months.
  • Knowledge of established DOT regulations.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of truck cabs and trailers.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Willingness to drive a Class A tractor trailer on commercial routes in Michigan, and all other states within our operating area.
  • A solid knowledge of all safety and regulatory requirements of operating a Class A, commercial vehicle.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with Shippers and Consignees.
  • Ability to work and understand electronic communication including but not limited to in cab communication and e-logs.
  • Experience and knowledge about Food Safety or willingness to receive training in Food Safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience maneuvering a Class A Truck & Trailer within a cave setting is strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport customer product via tractor trailer.
  • Ensure all inbound and outbound shipments are error and damage free.
  • Perform effective pre or post trip inspections, communicate findings to Dispatch or Maintenance teams for effective resolution.
  • Secure cargo appropriately to protect from damage and theft.
  • Communicate effectively with customers as required.
  • Resolve issues promptly and/or request assistance from Dispatch Operations.
  • Read and understand work instructions from dispatch.
  • Understand and use electronic communication including in-cab communication and e-logs.
  • Understand regional geography, read maps, follow directions and make effective and efficient travel route decisions.
  • Pick up and deliver assigned loads as scheduled.
  • Communicate immediately to Dispatch if a scheduled delivery time is at risk.
  • Communicate any service non-conformance to Dispatch.
  • Communicate with Dispatch when loads are complete and ready for the next assignment.
  • Communicate with Dispatch prior to the end of the day if anything else is required.
  • Stay on schedule throughout the day, taking required breaks but no excessive breaks or time from scheduled travel.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements in all areas of responsibility.
