About The Position

This Professional Development Specialist position is Per Diem and Hybrid, located on Hawaii Island, Hawaii. Positions begin in the current school year 2026-2027. Schedules vary based on individual school needs, and a minimum number of hours are not guaranteed. Skills are needed in elementary school experience, middle/high school experience, math/science/STEM, and ELA background. As a PD Specialist, you will equip teachers and school leaders with exceptional life-long experiences by building their skills in key instructional areas like literacy, math, STEM, technology implementation, and blended learning. Your impact will be felt by countless students as their teachers and school leaders become better equipped to deliver on promises to students, fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.

Requirements

  • Must reside on Hawaii Island.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • Experience teaching math, literacy, science or other relevant curriculum.
  • 5 years of experience delivering professional development workshops to adult educators.
  • 5 years of experience coaching teachers and/or school leaders either cognitively, instructionally or within a specific content-area focus in mind.
  • Must live in Los Angeles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Host dynamic and collaborative planning conferences that unleash the creative potential of educators.
  • Coach, train, and mentor teachers individually/one-on-one.
  • Craft creative example lessons that captivate students.
  • Lead interactive professional development workshops when needed.
  • Research and demonstrate instructional strategies.
  • Foster a culture of active participation and vibrant open discussions.
  • Ensure all educator development is completed successfully.
  • Provide report documentation as required.
  • Communicate actively with directors regarding activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
