About The Position

The Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority (JPHSA) Behavioral Health Community Services (BHCS) division provides a continuum of community-based behavioral health and support programs to assist individuals in their recovery from mental illness and/or addictive disorders. The Professional Counselor provides therapy services to clients presenting to the Behavioral Health Community Services Division of Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority (JPHSA). In this role, we are seeking an individual to service plans that include the individual's problems, goals, and objectives, as well as the type, frequency, and duration of service to be provided. The individual signs service plans served, and the guardian if the service recipient is a minor.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) or a Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT).
  • Must have a current driver's license, proof of insurance and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • The preferred location for intervention is the home of the client; however, other locations may be suitable provided that adequate controls are in place to protect confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to conduct after-hours appointments is a necessity for this position.
  • Individuals served cannot be transported in the incumbent's personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive assessments and service plans using appropriate diagnostic interviews and model techniques.
  • Provides therapeutic services to the client consistent with the therapy model.
  • Provides therapeutic interventions to the individuals served and families in the community, and outside of the typical 9-5 hour workday, as consistent involvement from family members is essential to the models.
  • Travels to homes and/or other locations in the community to provide services in a fashion consistent with the model.
  • May transport individuals served in agency vehicles.
  • Completes documentation in the agency's electronic health record and in model-specific systems regarding the treatment of individuals served.
  • Reviews assessments and other documentation to support the diagnosis and provide evidence of medical necessity.
