Full Time Profee Cardiology Medical Coder Remote
About The Position
IKS Health is seeking to hire an experienced Profee Cardiology medical coder. The role involves providing coding and abstracting services for clients using outpatient, physician, or emergency room medical records with ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems. The coder will utilize established coding principles, software, and their knowledge to assign diagnostic and procedural codes after a thorough review of the medical record. This position also includes participating in industry forums and supporting coding education within the team. Specific coding tasks include Clinic E&M and CPTs, Echocardiograms, Remote Monitoring, and EKGs, as well as assisting with Claim Edits for this specialty.
Requirements
- CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT or RHIA certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional fee cardiac coding experience.
- Must be able to code EKGs and other clinic accounts.
- Understands medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines, reimbursement systems, and federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, and billing.
- Must pass a coding proficiency test.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures relative to the patient's healthcare encounter.
- Abstract appropriate information from the medical record based on the guidelines provided by the client and after a thorough review of the medical record.
- Solicit clarification from the physician regarding ambiguous or conflicting documentation in the medical record using guidelines provided by the client.
- May act as a mentor to training coders and/or new hires by providing education and training.
- Maintain current knowledge of the information contained in the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
- Maintain effective and professional communication skills.
- Contribute to a positive company image by exhibiting professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect.
- Code Clinic E&M and CPTs for assigned accounts.
- Code Echocardiograms, Remote Monitoring, and EKGs.
- Assist with Claim Edits for the cardiology specialty.
