About The Position

MSA Safety is seeking passionate, motivated, and driven individuals to join their team. At MSA, safety is a core value, and the company is dedicated to using innovation and technology to protect people and assets globally. This role is for a Production Worker at their Ada, Oklahoma manufacturing plant, where you will convert specialty cut fabric into high-quality turnout gear. You will learn stitching operations and potentially other areas. All candidates will start on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

Requirements

  • 3 months minimum of sewing machine / stitching operation experience.
  • Able to read, write and speak basic English.
  • Background check, drug screen and pre-employment physicals are required.
  • Able to stand stationary for 8 hours.
  • Able to walk unassisted for full shift.
  • Able to reach at or above shoulder height.
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks using hands, wrists, fingers, arms, shoulders.
  • Able to read, write and speak in English.
  • Ability to hear noises clearly with or without hearing support assistance.
  • Vision - ability to see up close fine details, small components and tools while performing sewing and machine operation) with or without vision support assistance.
  • Good depth perception.
  • Able to lift and carry 1-25 pounds unassisted.
  • Work inside and around others.
  • Wear safety glasses for full shift and/or gloves if required for the task.
  • Work at a moderate pace.
  • Work proficiently individually and as a team.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively, professionally and respectfully.
  • Perform routine tasks.
  • Able to assist in team lifting of approximately 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Sewing, Manufacturing, Machine Operation, Assembly, Quality Control and Inspection desirable.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a variety of industrial single needle, double needle and programmable machines to stitch one of over 100 operations needed to complete the turnout gear shell or liner.
  • Be responsible for the quality of your work and support your departmental team by learning at least two additional operations.
  • Operate machines for snapping, seam sealing, automated stitching, and trimming.
  • Use and understand a ruler and measurements.
