About The Position

The Production Worker Trainee is required to learn all aspects and equipment needed to make OANB butter products and to perform required duties accordingly. Operation of machines includes following daily Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and complying with company quality standards. At the end of their first 180 days, they will be expected to pass all written and practical testing to move them into the position of Production Worker Level I. They will be expected to run the equipment at production rates.

Requirements

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Knowledge of Easy Label, Master Scheduler software.

Responsibilities

  • Set Up Turn on machines (glass cleaner, conveyors, capper, jar coder, labeler, bander, & box coder).
  • Use computer inventory to get label pull sheets for daily production
  • Perform metal detection test
  • Change and verify information for jar coder and box labeler
  • Calibrate ingredients
  • Load glass onto production line
  • Open valves to fill food process mill with roasted nuts and/or specified amounts of salt, sugar, and oil.
  • Inspect container prior to filling with nut butter
  • Visually inspect finished product container (labels, cap, expiration date, & safety band) and compare labels with pull sheet
  • Tend semi-automatic equipment that roast nuts for butter, fill, label, cap containers, and pack containers in shipping cartons.
  • Follow operating procedures for equipment to roast, grind, fill, label, cap, and pack containers in shipping cartons.
  • Make container weight checks to verify fillers are maintaining specifications.
  • Make torque checks to verify cappers are maintaining specifications.
  • Hand stamp dates on Bulk Labels.
  • Make boxes and fill each by hand with butter jars.
  • Calibrate weight scale.
  • Use Easy Label to print labels.
  • Use Safety Chain on tablets to fill out appropriate forms.
  • Complete Production form / Metal Detector form / Jar Cleaner form
  • Roaster tracking form
  • Set-Up, Label Selection, Sign Off form
  • Glass breakage action form (GMI Glass & Pallet Document, if applicable)
  • Moisture testing on nuts
  • Sweep/mop floors and wipe down all equipment and production line
  • Separate cardboard, plastic, raw material totes and compact when necessary
  • Take out garbage and recycled glass at the end of each shift
  • Tear down pipeline wash, rinse and sanitize all equipment
  • Reassemble pipeline, pumps, ingredient feeder, and fillers.
  • Clean out roaster with air hose and scrape panels to ensure zero cross contamination
  • During teardown change gaskets/ O-rings in pumps as needed, pipeline, fillers, and ingredient feeder
  • Analyze and resolve maintenance problems, or assist workers in solving work problems
  • Attend meetings and contribute to company agendas
  • Take part at tradeshows discussing the company's products to new customers
  • Other duties as assigned
