About The Position

The packaging operator is required to perform two functions: the bagging operation and the baler operation. The packaging operator must maintain the ability to perform both bagging and baler functions as determined by the Shift Leads. This role involves operating machinery, assisting other production areas, moving and wrapping completed products, and communicating with Shift Leads regarding any issues. The position requires physical stamina, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for at least 7 hours per day. Maintaining a clean workstation and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Ability to pass company forklift training.
  • Ability to read and interpret scales.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust weight and timing of baler and perform simple maintenance.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior forklift experience preferred.
  • Prior production line experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bagging and baler operations as determined by Shift Leads.
  • Operate machinery safely and productively.
  • Assist other production areas as needed.
  • Move and wrap completed products.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for a minimum of 7 hours per day.
  • Assist Shift Leads to start and stop pellet mills.
  • Communicate moisture or material problems to Shift Lead.
  • Maintain a clean workstation.
  • Operate bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jacks, and bag sealers.
  • Stack bags on pallets, cover pallets, and place finished goods in warehouse locations.
  • Complete Bagger production reports accurately.
  • Fill pellet sample cups every ton for quality control.
  • Tag pallets with Quality Control tags including initials, date, ton number, and shift.
  • Stack bales on pallets, seal bales with an iron, and wrap pallets.
  • Complete Baler Operator production reports accurately.
  • Check bale weight and record information on reports and quality control tags.
