About The Position

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a NDT Utility to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. The working hours for this Midnight Shift are Sunday Night to Thursday night 1030PM-630AM. Training will occur on Day Shift (Monday - Friday 6:30 AM- 230PM) and can last several months. New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: $25.66; After 12 Months: $28.31. This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Proficiency of basic mathematical skills and aptitude to conceptualize 3D
  • Good working knowledge of basic computer operations
  • Must be able to work independently with good decision-making skills

Responsibilities

  • This position will fill in gaps in labor for the hourly positions across the NDT Departments.
  • The Utility worker is responsible for performing any NDT Operation Job (up to Level 2).
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles;
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment;
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook);
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner;
  • Attend all EH&S training.
  • CMM operations include: Operates jobs to be run on CMM machines, run programs on CMM machines and interpret results with regards to rework or acceptance criteria, verify calibrations stickers prior to running jobs, while maintaining all necessary quality records. Problem solving skills to identify and report problems. Operate various hand tools to perform rework on castings. Stage incoming queues for next shift.
  • Weld operations include: Operate various hand tools to perform weld prep (route out) and weld blend, operate boroscope to perform internal inspection of castings.
  • FPI operations include: Certified Level 1 duties including, but not limited to, FPI dispatching and assist on the line when needed. Load the incoming FPI queues.
  • X-Ray operations include: Level 1 duties such as processing exposed film into processors, loading/unloading cassettes with new film and lead for X-ray Level 1s, sort processed film into respective envelopes and verify film densities, inspects x-ray film for required density and sensitivity based on prior training, experience and resulting certification. Perform basic TPM and/or maintenance activities including but not limited to, cleaning of processors and basic maintenance.
  • Pack operations include: Verifies that all castings received have completed all previous operations per the lot router, verifies all necessary information in regards to heat batches, markings, and alloy code is acceptable, performs various marking operations including but not limited to, electrolytic etch, ink stamp, dot peen marking, and vibropeen, packages marked castings into shipping containers. Additionally, performs set-up operation for x-ray department and operate airflow testing equipment.
  • Submits to and must pass visual acuity test and after sufficient training, a written and oral certification examination.
  • May be asked to train in other areas of the plant.
  • Maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Follows all safety rules.
  • Maintains 98% reliability from audits.
