About The Position

The work of a Westeck Production Worker III focuses on the more customized or customizable aspects of building windows and doors for customer projects that support high quality custom-built homes. The work is typically found in the Paint or Specials departments. Within Specials, the Production Worker III builds windows that are unique in size and shape. The work is considered to be start-to-finish assembly and requires the individuals within the role to check for both pre-and final-quality within their own department. At all times, a Production Worker III is a safety sensitive role and is responsible for working in a manner that promotes safety of self and others. Additionally, the Production Worker III is required to ensure that the work is completed to quality standards prior the work moving out of their department. The duties, responsibilities, and scope of this position may, from time to time, be amended, altered, or changed by the All Weather Group acting reasonably to meet the business needs of the organization. The core key responsibilities have been outlined, with specific details relating to the Specials or Paint departments. Employees must be trained properly prior to undertaking any aspects of the work where there is judgement or latitude to make changes. In all work stages, the Production Worker III will be expected to help each other out where there is a question or an issue to ensure that the products are produced according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards, or escalating to a Team Lead or Supervisor if required. All work must be conducted within safety expectations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation – Checking for defects and/or issues and/or ensuring material ready to be assembled.
  • Calculating the angles and measurements required to construct the custom window shape in accordance with the CAD drawings.
  • Inspecting materials prior to cutting.
  • Measuring and hand cutting using chop saw, ensuring correct angles, lengths, dimensions, alignments. Includes problem-solving or working through how best to salvage materials or correct for minor defects to ensure work is completed to quality standards and reduces waste.
  • Assembling unconventional shapes and layouts according to the CAD drawing requirements, including welding and corner cleaning of angles that are typically not 90 degrees, bending and shaping vinyl to the required shapes.
  • Applying glazing if required (circles, ovals or corner windows).
  • Reviewing the quality and completeness of the preparation of the materials (e.g., paint preparation, cleaning, filling in defects) prior to undertaking any work.
  • Identifying if there are any issues or defects prior to undertaking the work and/or completing the work and moving to or sending it to the next department. Referring to quality checklists and SOPs. Completing a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process as required.
  • Conducting re-work if products or materials have been sent back to the department by Quality Assurance/Control team, or if identified for re-work in line or plant.
  • Carting and/or moving products to or from the department.
  • Counting inventory, as required.
  • Participating in continuous improvement work to improve the quality of the window or door products for our customers.
  • Providing assistance and/or work coverage in different workstations, departments, lines, or plants as needed and/or directed.
  • Performing other duties across the plant as needed as directed by Team Lead or Supervisor.
  • Performs housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Supporting and participating in Employee Engagement activities.
