About The Position

As the work varies between each station, department, line, or plant, the key responsibilities have been outlined as general requirements and may vary within the specific station, department, line, or plant assignment. Employees must be trained properly prior to undertaking any aspects of the work where there is judgement or latitude to make changes. In all work stages, the Production Worker II will be expected to help each other out where there is a question or an issue to ensure that the products are produced according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards, or escalating to a Team Lead or Supervisor if required. All work must be conducted within safety expectations and standards. Preparation Identifying and locating the different materials required for a work phase or process within a station, department, or line. Checking for defects and/or issues and/or ensuring material is clean both prior to starting a workstation process, as well as from prior workstations. Ensuring that materials are prepared and/or cleaned for the workstation as well as prior to moving to future workstations. Accurately measuring and/or checking measurements or dimensions prior to starting the next phase of work within a station, department, or line. Cutting materials, ensuring that the product lengths, dimensions, and alignments are correct and/or correcting these within the equipment and/or programs in the equipment to meet the SOPs and quality standards when changing materials or product series. Includes problem-solving or working through how best to salvage materials or correct minor defects to ensure that work is completed within quality standards and reduces waste. May include operating a variety of saws or machining or milling machines.     Assembly Assembling materials according to the production SOPs and quality standards across multiple production stations, departments, or plants. Operating various equipment or machinery for the assigned production process, including problem-solving or working through how best to salvage materials or correct minor defects to ensure that work is completed within quality standards and reduces waste. May include operating corner welders and cleaners, various hand or power tools. Completing glazing work with attention to detail and care in handling. Quality (Pre- and/or Final) Reviewing the quality and completeness of the assembly from the prior production stage and identifying if there are any issues or defects prior to moving to the next production stage or step. Referring to quality checklists and SOPs as appropriate. Completing a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process as required. Reviewing quality of finished products to quality standards: size measurements, material quality. Conducting re-work if products or materials have been sent back to department by Quality Assurance/Control team. Attaching labelling to products, protecting products (where required), gathering accessories (as required) for shipping, crating glass if finished product being shipped without glass. Other related duties as required Carting and/or moving materials or products from one workstation or department or line to another. Counting inventory, as required. Participating in continuous improvement work to improve quality of the window or door products for our customers. Providing assistance and/or work coverage in different workstations, departments, lines, or plants as needed and/or directed. Performing other duties across the plant as needed as directed by Team Lead or Supervisor. Performs housekeeping duties as needed. Supporting and participating in Employee Engagement activities.
