About The Position

The Production Utility is an entry level position, and the individual will learn to monitor and maintain inventory levels of all raw materials using reclaimers and loaders. They will maintain all raw materials bin levels, and perform clean-up and housekeeping functions as assigned. The role involves maintaining visual surveillance of mobile equipment and process, taking remedial action and/or reporting conditions to the Control Room Operator or Supervisor that may be detrimental to the safety of personnel, equipment, process or environment. The individual will maintain a safe working environment, adhere to safety policies and practices, perform daily housekeeping of the assigned area, perform daily workplace inspections, adhere to plant policies and proper use of plant radios. They will also become familiar with MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/tagout policy, confined space permit policy, hot work policy, emergency response plan, arc flash/shock and burn protection, and proper containment and disposal processes for environmentally sensitive materials. Additionally, the role ensures quality of work performed, participates in continuous improvement systems, observes and promotes best practices, demonstrates good time management, and is able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failures. The Production Utility will work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to drive and operate various equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts and bobcats.
  • Knowledge of all types of equipment used in the manufacturing of cement.
  • Mechanical background working with industrial type equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to learn to maintain equipment and work areas.
  • Ability to read and interpret product manuals, technical guides, MSD sheets.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Must have mathematical skills equivalent to a high school.
  • Good physical condition as position may require bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, stairs and lifting; high degree of manual dexterity and coordination and good eye/hand coordination.

  • Be familiar with MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/tagout policy, confined space permit policy, hot work policy, emergency response plan, arc flash/shock and burn protection, proper containment and disposal process (via Waste Management Plan) for lubricants, paints/solvents and other environmentally sensitive materials.
  • Ensure quality of work performed, participate in continuous improvement system, observe and promote best practices, good time management and be able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failure.
  • Will work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.
