The Utility person will perform tasks involving physical labor at mining sites. This role involves various general/manual labor duties such as shoveling, applying rock dust, gathering and delivering supplies, greasing conveyor belt rollers, tailpieces and head drives, and assisting other miners. The position also includes assisting in moving the section by installing/retrieving mine conveyor belt and associated structure, moving electrical distribution centers and cables, and operating rubber-tired, battery-powered scoops for cleaning, hauling, and debris removal. The role requires conducting pre-operational checks on machinery and examining the mine face, roof, and ribs. Additionally, the Utility person will safely transport machinery, assist in moving section equipment, maintain ventilation controls, hang equipment trailing cables, relieve other equipment operators as needed, and perform routine maintenance. Operating a diesel-powered forklift for loading supplies and ensuring all work complies with coal mining laws and company policies are also key aspects of this role.
