About The Position

The Production Underwriter with SteadPoint Group uses analytical and sales skills to provide insurance solutions for agency partners and insureds. The role is a leader within the Underwriting team and requires an in-depth understanding of SteadPoint’s strategy and business appetite. The underwriter uses available resources to make individual and portfolio risk decisions and is responsible for profitable growth of an assigned book of business in accordance with underwriting policies and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree.
At least 5 years of property/casualty underwriting experience.
Minimum 25% travel.

Responsibilities

Develop producer relationships, build pipeline and agency intelligence, and drive performance to meet and exceed results.
Manage an assigned book of business by analyzing the portfolio, identifying opportunities for growth, profit, and diversification, and executing marketing plans to increase market share with assigned agencies.
Stay current on state and territory issues, regulations, and trends.
Evaluate insurance applications by identifying and assessing risks, determining policy terms and conditions, presenting proposals to agents or brokers, and negotiating through the sale.
Guide and mentor underwriters in technical and professional skills; serve as a referral resource for risks within the role’s authority; and review underwriting files for proficiency throughout the underwriting process.
Participate in continuous improvement through department meetings, suggestions, appropriate procedures and work principles, problem-solving activities, and other team-supporting methods.
