About The Position

The Production Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and marketing accounts throughout approved states/territories. This role is a key part of the production underwriting capabilities of Amynta Dealer Solutions. The Production Underwriter will own the results of their book of business and will engage in activities tied to risk selection and customer service. Amynta Dealer Solutions offers a full suite of industry-leading property, casualty, and specialty products for dealerships. The company is looking for individuals with insurance experience or a passion for customer service. The role can be filled by individuals with experience as account managers, or underwriters with experience on the carrier, MGA/MGU, or agent side. The company is willing to train the right candidate who has a growth mindset, individual accountability, critical thinking, and is detail-oriented. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5-7+ years of production underwriting experience or equivalent work experience (for Sr. Production Underwriter).
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years of commercial underwriting experience or equivalent work experience (for Production Underwriter).
  • Proven sales results and client service experience.
  • Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, processes, and practice.
  • Extensive experience in the insurance industry ideally within an underwriting, broking, relationship management or sales role.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking skills with great attention to details.
  • Individually accountable.
  • Effective relationship management skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to develop a tactical underwriting plan and execute on its implementation.
  • Active listening and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to work independently for significant periods of time.
  • Strong business development and communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office including Excel skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and prioritize to meet sales targets.
  • Property & Casualty Agent’s license in residing state, or willingness to obtain.
  • Willingness & ability to travel for agency visits, industry functions, training and seminars.
  • Continuing education to maintain necessary credentials.
  • Problem solving focused, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic.

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting and marketing accounts throughout approved states/territories.
  • Developing new business and managing assigned agencies.
  • Selecting advantageous risks and building a profitable portfolio of accounts.
  • Representing the Amynta Group and meeting with insurance agencies to develop relationships and promote products.
  • Analyzing the financial risk of applicants to determine qualification for coverage.
  • Monitoring loss ratios for Carriers and Agents and taking corrective action.
  • Making marketing presentations to prospective clients.
  • Managing and developing agent performance and the book of business through personal analysis.
  • Analyzing insurance applications, supplemental reports, studies, and data to determine if a risk meets acceptable criteria.
  • Owning the results of their book of business and being compensated on annual and long-term profitability.
  • Maintaining balance between distribution and risk selection to drive profitable growth.
  • Understanding how their book fits into the broader portfolio strategy.
  • Maintaining and leading relationships with assigned agents.
  • Engaging in activities to generate submissions and close accounts.
  • Working with key internal stakeholders to develop and maintain product-specific business development plans.
  • Leading the education of the broker market on products to create demand and highlight competitive differentiation.
  • Raising the profile of Amynta Dealer Solutions within the broker community.
  • Tracking metrics around broker engagements and sharing client and broker feedback.
  • Planning and engaging in regular virtual/face-to-face meetings with brokers.
  • Acting as a contact point for broker queries and product education.
  • Developing and underwriting a profitable portfolio in support of business plans.
  • Structuring tailor-made solutions by considering team underwriting parameters and exposures.
  • Leveraging underwriting knowledge and experience to win new business and retain existing accounts.
  • Monitoring premiums, costs, and claims ratios per contract and taking corrective measures.
  • Evaluating appropriate risk premium by considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure, and administrative costs.
  • Complying with underwriting control standards for business written through delegated authority.
  • Engaging with leadership to solve problems.
  • Assisting in the development of internal and external materials.
  • Supporting business unit leadership with presentations and special projects.
