About The Position

TAMKO is seeking a Production Trainee at our manufacturing facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Production Trainee will learn the essential functions of all positions on the Production Lines, including performing quality checks, safety equipment checks, cleaning/maintenance activities, and understanding line shutdown and startup procedures. The role involves operating equipment, performing preventive maintenance, assisting with upset conditions, and executing the TAMKO Manufacturing Playbook. The trainee will also participate in housekeeping and waste removal, and conduct quality audits and preventative maintenance as required. This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed, adapt to changes in the work environment, and be a team player.

Requirements

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
Two to three years related experience and/or training.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Ability to understand and mitigate risks, including by following all prescribed safety rules.
Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary.

Responsibilities

Learn the essential functions of all positions on the Production Lines.
Learn and perform quality checks and divert unsuitable material.
Learn and perform safety equipment checks to ensure use of only safe equipment.
Learn and complete necessary essential cleaning/maintenance activities as required on maintenance availability days.
Learn and practice a thorough understanding of line shutdown and startup procedures.
Learn and perform preventive maintenance duties/cleans equipment used in process.
Learn and operate equipment for manufacturing, shipment and moving material as assigned.
Learn and perform forklift on-board computer functions relating to order entry, inventory management and raw material handling.
Participate in the housekeeping requirements of the plant as needed.
Learn and operate equipment on the Production lines as required.
Assist with upset conditions on the Production lines as required – Jams, tails etc.
Responsible for waste removal and storage from the Production lines.
Learn and conduct quality audits as necessary for the Production lines.
Learn and conduct preventative maintenance/cleaning activities as required on maintenance availability days.
Work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
Learn and execute the TAMKO Manufacturing Playbook.
