Production Test Engineer II

RTX•McKinney, TX
•$68,900 - $131,100•Onsite

About The Position

Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Production Test Engineer to support test processes in a factory environment. Production Test Engineers support one or more phases of the product life cycle, including product development, transition to production, sustained production, and depot activities. The role validates that prime hardware complies with its technical data package requirements and supports program schedule and cost goals. The engineer troubleshoots test failures, analyzes data, performs Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, yields, test time, defect reduction, and test capacity. The role is the primary authority for test equipment, ensuring its actions and modifications align with operational requirements, and requires understanding how the equipment functions and interacts with the hardware being tested. The engineer also optimizes forward and reverse test flows and maintains test-related documentation and factory instructions.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior experience, unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
  • Experience related to RF test methods, troubleshooting, RF microwave product testing, engineering, and/or manufacturing.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain an interim U.S. government-issued security clearance before the start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings to perform measurements and troubleshoot electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of RF measurements including S-parameters, Noise Figure, Third Order Intercept, Phase Error, Return Loss, Compression, Gain, Insertion Loss, and VSWR.
  • Knowledge of the use and functionality of test equipment and hardware, including Network Analyzers, Data Acquisition (DAQ), DC Power Supplies, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Power Meters, Digital Multimeters, Pulse Generators, Signal Generators, Attenuators, RF Amplifiers, Couplers, Power Dividers, and RF Switches.

Responsibilities

  • Provide test engineering support to manufacturing areas and coordinate with operations, quality, process/mechanical, and production control on urgent test needs.
  • Observe, analyze, and report test data; perform tests using engineering drawings, manuals, and related documentation.
  • Process, test, troubleshoot, and repair digital, analog, and RF equipment.
  • Disposition non-conforming material using root cause and corrective action analysis, and investigate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support continuous improvement through process improvements that improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate processes, and reduce direct and indirect costs using Core/Six Sigma principles and data-driven decision-making.
  • Troubleshoot test failures, perform data analysis and RCCA, and identify improvements to efficiency, yields, test time, defect reduction, and test capacity.
  • Serve as the primary authority for test equipment and ensure equipment actions and modifications align with operational requirements.
  • Optimize forward and reverse test flow processes and maintain test-related documentation and factory instructions.
