About The Position

The Production Technician (Nights) is responsible for the setup and teardown of production jobs, including mold and material changes, and ensuring all safety devices are operational on presses and auxiliary equipment. This role involves setting up auxiliary equipment and workstations for optimal workflow, completing startup/shutdown checklists, and reporting any tool issues that may require repair. The technician monitors and records process parameters for presses in operation, identifies and corrects problems, and continuously seeks to improve process performance and increase efficiency. Troubleshooting responsibilities include making adjustments to the machine, auxiliary equipment, and operating processes to ensure parts meet production requirements, documenting all process changes, and communicating with the Quality Assurance Inspector to verify parts meet tolerances and customer requirements. Adherence to all Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures, including reporting any problems with the QFSMS to a supervisor or manager, is a critical aspect of this role. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency or higher; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.
  • Provide all applicable tools to perform their duties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mold changes, insert changes and assist with material changes as needed.
  • Verify and change colorant per work order.
  • Verify and change in-mold labels per work order.
  • Ensure all safety devices are working on presses and auxiliary equipment while in operation.
  • Set-up auxiliary equipment needed for the operation.
  • Set-up workstations for optimum workflow.
  • Complete Molding Start Up Shutdown Checklist (F-407) in a timely manner.
  • Submit last shot and tool logbook with molds being returned as required.
  • Report any issues with the tool that may require repair.
  • Clean the machine and return all components no longer needed back to the proper storage location.
  • Review and record the process parameters for presses in operation.
  • Identify and correct problems.
  • Look for ways to improve process performance and increase efficiency.
  • Make adjustments to the machine, auxiliary equipment and operating processes as needed to ensure parts are meeting production requirements.
  • Document all process changes.
  • Communicate with the Quality Assurance Inspector to verify parts are meeting tolerances and customer requirements.
  • Understand and follow all Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures.
  • Report problems with the QFSMS to a supervisor or manager.
