About The Position

Reporting to the Manager and Assistant Manager of Production/Labeling, the Production Technician is responsible for the separation of whole blood into blood and blood components (including the proper operation of equipment and the labeling of blood components) for long-term storage or shipment. Functions must be completed in a manner consistent with all applicable standards, procedures, regulations, departmental goals and objectives, and must be in compliance with standards set forth by, but not limited to the following regulatory bodies: FDA, AABB, EU, and OSHA. Regular full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.

Requirements

• High School Graduate, or GED
• Must complete training for essential functions within 90 days, as appropriate for the shift assigned.
• Organized and able to document details accurately and completely, both electronically and manually
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team, with or without direct supervision
• Ability to work with strict time expectations, restraints and deadlines
• Uses equipment effectively, skillfully and efficiently
• Good verbal and written English communication skills
• Ability to remain focused on repetitive tasks
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, unassisted
• Ability to perform and remain focused on repetitive physical tasks, such as reaching overhead and bending
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to gloves, gowns, and face shields, at all times, as appropriate for the task

Responsibilities

• Separation of whole blood into blood and blood components
• Proper operation of equipment
• Labeling of blood components for long-term storage or shipment
• Completes federally regulated unit transactions without error multiple times per day
• Handles and ensures proper temperature maintenance of unprocessed blood products, in compliance with multiple regulations and procedures
• Periodic blood-spill clean-up
