Production Technician

HillenbrandGeorgetown, ON
Onsite

About The Position

As a Weld and Production Technician (Welding and Mechanical Assembly), you’ll play a direct role in building precision hot runner components that support consistent melt flow, part quality, and reliable production for customers across the plastics industry. You’ll work on-site at Mold Masters, a Hillenbrand company, in Georgetown, Ontario. We design and manufacture hot runner systems, temperature controllers, auxiliary injection, and co-injection technologies used by manufacturers worldwide. Your craftsmanship will support disciplined execution, operational excellence, and long-term system performance. The work you do will matter every shift and over the full life of the product.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment performing precision mechanical or production assembly to drawings, work instructions, and defined quality standards.
  • TIG (GTAW) welding experience, including heat control, fit-up discipline, and consistent rework without damaging critical surfaces.
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, specifications, travelers, and Job Instruction Sheets, including part identification and revision control.
  • Experience using common hand tools, fixtures, and basic measuring instruments to verify fit, alignment, and workmanship.
  • Strong documentation habits to accurately record completed work, inspections, and rework actions for traceability.
  • Practical troubleshooting skills for routine assembly or welding issues, with sound judgment on when to escalate non-standard conditions.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, including proper personal protective equipment use and adherence to hot-work and shop safety procedures.
  • Ability to manage daily priorities in a production environment and communicate status and risks clearly with teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble hot runner manifold components and subassemblies by following engineering drawings, travelers, and Job Instruction Sheets to meet fit, function, and traceability requirements.
  • Perform precision / micro weld TIG (gas tungsten arc welding, GTAW) welding and controlled rework for approximately up to 40% of your time, using disciplined heat input and standard methods to protect critical geometry and sealing surfaces.
  • Complete production and mechanical assembly work for approximately 60%+ of your time, performing detailed component installation and preparation steps that ensure assemblies meet design intent and perform reliably in service.
  • Prepare parts and assemblies through cleaning, deburring, surface preparation, and protection of interfaces to support accurate assembly and downstream processes.
  • Confirm revision status, part identification, and setup readiness before starting work, and escalate mismatches or nonconformances through defined quality processes.
  • Inspect your own work during and after completion using visual checks and basic measuring tools, and document results to support ISO-controlled traceability.
  • Maintain an organized workstation, care for tools and fixtures, and flag quality, capacity, or timing risks early to support continuous improvement.
  • Other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
