About The Position

Production Technicians (Packers) are responsible for packing finished goods into cases, recording paperwork, changeovers and code checks. Responsibilities include keeping up with the pace of production, packing quality products, labeling boxes, and placing boxes on a conveyor as required. This role requires adherence to all employee safety guidelines, food safety and quality procedures, and GMPs. The technician will also be involved in sanitation, quality assurance monitoring, troubleshooting, and batching/processing assistance, upholding SQF requirements and contributing to the company's B-corp mission.

Requirements

  • Thorough working knowledge of all current OSHA and Safety Standards.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must work well in teams and demonstrate behavior conducive to promoting strong teamwork.
  • Must possess a positive attitude in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Must be punctual, on site and ready for work at scheduled hours.
  • Must be able to understand direction and information in English.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8-hour shifts.
  • Perform repetitive or continuing behavior including lifting 20-30 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Frequent bending, crouching, or twisting.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced production environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and Aerial platform certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to complete better processing control school & Acidified Foods course in first 6 months of hire.
  • Work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes to complete work assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Removes packaged product from conveyor line and places packaged product into casing neatly and correctly.
  • Monitors packaged product for quality standards.
  • Verifies that the date packaged is correct.
  • Straightens product progressing along a conveyor line.
  • Operates palletizing equipment.
  • Conducts required periodic packaging integrity testing and weight checks, and metal detection using established validation methods.
  • Ensures that the correct packaging materials are being used for the product being produced.
  • Tracks and documents machine/equipment down-time.
  • Maintains counts of finished product.
  • Assembles flat cardboard into box shape for shipping products.
  • Tapes boxes and manually transfers product to stacking area.
  • Performs different packaging configurations.
  • Maintains ingredients and material in a First in First Out basis (FIFO).
  • Operates filler machine as needed.
  • Assists with batching productions.
  • Follows and understands all employee safety guidelines, food safety and quality procedures and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Performs CIP, COP, and SIP before and after production.
  • Assists in allergen monitoring programs.
  • Performs sanitation/housekeeping.
  • Assists with QA monitoring and recording.
  • Troubleshooting.
  • Assists with batching & processing.
  • Upholds SQF requirements including promotion of a strong & positive food safety culture.
  • Actively involved in implementation, upkeep and continuous improvement of food safety as part of an interdisciplinary team.
