About The Position

Toray Advanced Composites (TAC) is a leading supplier of advanced composite materials for the aerospace, sporting goods, motorsport, and industrial markets. Our thermoset composite products are found on nearly every satellite, space launch vehicle, unmanned aircraft, military and commercial aircraft in production today. TAC also provides composites materials to industrial and recreational applications including mountain bikes, medical prosthetics, and sports equipment. Our thermoplastic prepregs, known in the industry as Cetex®, are found in a wide range of commercial and military aircraft, including large wing structures and interior applications like seats and galleys. Our Cetex products are available in unidirectional tape or fabric form in a variety of engineered thermoplastic resins including PEEK, PPS, PEI as well as a full line of performance thermoplastics including Nylon, PET, HDPE, and PP. As an entry-level Production Technician I at Toray, the technician will support the production department by assisting senior-level operators. Duties include learning Toray’s quality standards by understanding how to check for defects and performing hourly checks of the machine. Entry technicians will review the quality process and identify quality issues with oversight from senior technicians. Additionally, the technician will package roles and gather resin/required items. As time progresses, the technician should be able to follow detailed instructions and work under close supervision to complete allocated tasks. Tasks would include machine setup with full oversight, prioritizing routine tasks to improve efficiency, and troubleshooting minor production-related issues. Additionally, the technician should be able to follow procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (where relevant) to safeguard themselves, other employees, and the work environment. Entry-level Production Technician I will be trained and expected to dispose of hazmat waste safely and in proper areas. Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • 0 to 1 year of experience working with composites or in a production department
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Math and basic computer skills required
  • Ability to convert grams to pounds
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions for machine operation
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
  • Able to work and communicate as a team
  • Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 55 lbs
  • Must be clean shaven in order to wear PPE/Respirator
  • Excellent attendance; ability to work overtime, weekends and off shifts when needed

Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions and work under close supervision to complete the allocated tasks.
  • With oversight, set up and operate machine for advanced composite materials.
  • Escalate equipment and production issues by notifying Lead/Supervisor.
  • Understand how to check for defects on the line.
  • Perform hourly checks of the machine.
  • Review/understand the quality process and identify quality issues with senior oversight.
  • Follow safety procedures for PPE (personal protection equipment).
  • Dispose of hazmat waste in the proper area.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Preparation (wrapping and labeling) of the product for processing, loading and unloading product from the equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Lead/Supervisor or designee.
  • Movement and lifting (approx. 551bs) of materials.
