About The Position

The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Production Technician 2.

Requirements

  • Requires six (6) months of welding experience OR successful completion of a weld qualification class but does not require any certification other than H-D quality standards.
  • The individual must also pass an H-D weld test administered by Harley-Davidson or an approved 3rd party administrator.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up completely and operate multiple machines in a manufacturing center, cell, work cell(s), or flow line(s) using a variety of welding machines, manual welding processes and tools to do: Heat induction, tube benders, automatic feeds, washers and lasers or perform multiple operations
  • Welding of components including multi electrical spot or seam resistance welding, robotic welding and metal cleaning equipment.
  • Laser trimming, fusing, and cleaning parties in the fabrication process.
  • Responsible for proper positioning of parts using jigs, fixtures, or similar equipment.
  • Make adjustments to machines and equipment as needed in order to ensure piece part conformance to specifications.
  • Explain and instruct other employees on the processes used in the classification on timely, thorough and proper completion of the duties of the job classification.
  • Determine work assignments based on information from supervisors, Team Leads or Material flow.
  • Respond to machine alarms and attempt to clear them with the manual controls or notify the appropriate persons.
  • Required to operate multiple machines simultaneously in a work cell.
  • Perform M.I.G., T.I.G. and gas welds on various configurations and components
  • Repair welds using various welding techniques.
  • Visually inspect and utilize required checking equipment and gauges. Make routine adjustments to equipment to assure quality standards are being met and that the parts are in conformance to specifications included in line gauges.
  • Perform routine and customary material handling associated with job.
  • Prepare and submit necessary time, quantity and other records pertaining to job.
  • Rework parts using a flap wheel and repairs tools to help eliminate potential defects.
  • Checking appearance and quality of welds by removing all excess weld splatter and distortion as required.
  • Utilizing visual inspection techniques to check appearance and quality of welds and using any appropriate gauging when required.
