About The Position

This role involves operating various soldering equipment, including solder wave, vapor degreaser machines, selective solder, air vac lead-free and leaded solder pots, SRT rework stations, and special parts preparation equipment. The operator will solder, clean, rework, and fabricate parts, components, and subassemblies using scopes, basic hand tools, and special devices for the production of components and assemblies. The position requires adherence to quality standards and documentation, including JSTD 001 and IPC-610, and may involve training in surface mount equipment and monitoring floor stock inventory.

Requirements

  • Able to fabricate, and inspect to J STD 001 and IPC-610.
  • Experience reading blueprints and working with scopes in a manufacturing setting is a plus.
  • Solder experience in a manufacturing setting including hand soldering and related machine soldering on solder equipment is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Certification to be qualified to perform the job duties of a Solder.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Visual exams are required pre-hire and biennial to confirm visual acuity of 20/20 with or without glasses.
  • Must pass a standard color vision exam.
  • Must be able to perform job functions while using a scope.

Responsibilities

  • Operate soldering equipment such as solder wave, vapor degreaser machine, selective solder, air vac lead free and leaded solder pots, SRT rework station and special parts preparation equipment.
  • Solder, clean, rework and fabricate parts, components and subassemblies by using scopes and basic hand tools and special devices for the production of components and assemblies.
  • Select flux, add flux, clean equipment, maintain and follow PM schedules, and identify when maintenance is needed for wave solder pallets.
  • Set up wave height, width and conveyor speed on wave solder equipment.
  • Set up and follow all guidelines and PM’s for selective soldering machine, ensuring quality product production on a timely basis per print and routings.
  • Review routings against prints to ensure consistency and ensure correct programs and revisions are called out on routers.
  • Perform periodic hand soldering under a scope for solder touch-up and product review of solder joints.
  • Use basic hand tools, special fasteners, soldering iron and measuring devices.
  • Measure and record product data as required.
  • Prepare wire by cutting, stripping, twisting, tinning and soldering, or fastening wires, cables, resistors, capacitors and other parts and components to PWBs, connectors, and assemblies.
  • Clean parts and hand-placed components during production processes.
  • Perform hand soldering work while using a scope.
  • Monitor floor stock inventory such as solder paste and flux and inform Supervisor or Lead when low.
  • Support the business in meeting all ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, AS 9100: rev. D, Nadcap, and NASA-STD-8739 requirements and documented instructions.
