About The Position

This role acts as a steward of the company culture, ensuring new hires acclimate to the team. The Production Team Leader/Supervisor provides on-the-floor support for technicians during production and sanitation, securing technical support when needed. They support company and site safety policies, coaching and acting as a role model for safe working practices, and leading observations to promote safe working conditions. This position involves developing strategic training plans for the team and supporting the Team Trainer. Key responsibilities include completing on-shift paperwork and reports, using continuous improvement tools to reduce losses, owning the team scorecard and ensuring accurate data input, tracking defects and process failures, and developing action plans. The role also involves encouraging and supporting the development of team resources, facilitating conflict resolution, developing and communicating weekly team work schedules, and coaching team members for a fully skilled and high-performing team. Additionally, the role manages opportunities for paid time off, offline time for training, and ensuring technical skills remain refreshed. Team members will fully qualify at their hire level by completing operational, technical, and leadership requirements through the pay and progression process. This includes completing 1:1s with team members and assisting with team building and continuous improvement efforts. The role owns and tracks all results for the area, including yields and efficiency, ensuring proper materials are available and used. Support for Autonomous Maintenance/Progressive Maintenance includes general equipment troubleshooting, utilizing the Daily Management System for daily direction, procurement of spare parts, and completion of Work Orders. Writing and completing Work Orders, utilizing the Defect List, and ensuring defects requiring Work Orders are written on shift and followed up on are also key. Encouraging proper Clean Inspect Lubricate (CIL) completion and/or Foreign Material checks, ensuring centerline completion and compliance, and validating proper downtime coding are critical. The role also involves escalating downtime events appropriately and ensuring effective communication on the team during shift, between shifts, and with other departmental resources. Maintaining a current 90-day plan throughout the fiscal year is also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing required.
  • At least 1 year of experience leading, coaching others, and delegating work to others required.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow documents such as safety policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and general instructions.
  • Able to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions.
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to give and receive feedback.
  • Able to solve problems, handle stressful situations, and act with a sense of urgency.
  • Able to work both independently and on a team.
  • The employee must be able to work 12-hour night shifts (5:45pm-6:15am)
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule and overtime, as needed
  • The employee must be able to squat or kneel and to bend on a frequent basis.
  • The employee must be able to tolerate exposure to flour and yeast, oils, and peanut butter as well as other materials.
  • The employee must be able to lift + 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • The applicant must pass an occupational physical test.
  • Employee is required to have a minimum of 20/40 vision in each eye with or without corrective lenses.
  • The applicant must pass a standard eye exam.

Responsibilities

  • Completes 1:1’s with team members and assists with team building and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Owns and tracks all results for area, including routine tracking yields and efficiency. Ensures proper materials are available and used.
  • Supports Autonomous Maintenance/Progressive Maintenance on Line:
  • General equipment troubleshooting and support of Technical Resource / team members for troubleshooting activities.
  • Utilizes planning and scheduling Daily Management System to provide proper daily direction for maintenance work as well as procurement of spare parts, completion of Work Orders, etc.
  • Writes and completes Work Orders as needed.
  • Utilizes Defect List and provides direction / coaching to team as needed. Ensures defects requiring Work Orders are written on shift and follows up on completion.
  • Encourages proper Clean Inspect Lubricate (CIL) completion and/or Foreign Material checks in lieu of CILs where appropriate.
  • Ensure centerline completion and compliance on each shift.
  • Validates and ensures proper downtime coding (targeting 100% completion and accuracy).
  • Escalates downtime events appropriately to Area Lead, Technical Lead, and Department Manager.
  • Ensures effective communication on their team during shift, between shifts, and with other departmental resources.
  • Maintains a current 90-day plan throughout the fiscal year.
