The Production Team Lead will be a valuable part of our production team, making the industry’s finest coffee. This position provides leadership in ensuring that production demands (blending, roasting, packaging) are met in a timely manner while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality. They need to be reliable and punctual, able to execute the production plan effectively, and guide employees to ensure success in their daily work. They must address staffing and production issues, minimizing their impact on performance goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with 3-5 years of production experience as a machine technician or in operations leadership
  • Capable of reading, understanding, and communicating production documents and safety manuals
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and system controls
  • Intermediate level math, reading, and writing skills
  • Intermediate level computer skills
  • Has a high degree of personal accountability and deadline /time management
  • Excels in a results-oriented and dynamic environment; is flexible and can respond quickly and effectively to business needs

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of formal training in the coffee industry or food manufacturing is strongly desired
  • Previous Workplace Safety Committee participation

Responsibilities

  • Performs material cycle counts, daily material requisitions, and the organizational activities of all packaging materials
  • Responsible for the accuracy of work order transactions and finished goods inventory
  • Assists Production Supervisor with operational staffing requirements, hiring, new hire orientation, training staff, and production coordination
  • Prioritizes production on-floor presence and consistently provides leadership and support to the production team
  • Implements internal programs for material waste reduction, production yield, incident corrective actions, and problem solving
  • Supports new packaging technology implementation, new product development, and other innovations
  • Demonstrates knowledge and commitment to Quality and Food Safety programs, including GMPs , SSOPs, and Adverse Health Policy, ensuring that the packaging department operates within the standards set by Peet’s Coffee and its oversight regulatory agencies
  • Ensures product quality by enforcing completion of all required Line Operator Quality Control Point monitoring tasks according to established procedures
  • Ensures fair and consistent enforcement of all Peet’s Coffee policies
  • Aids in the development and creation of Job Hazards Analysis for each Packaging Line
  • Aids in the development of Standard Work and SOP requirements for each Packaging Line
  • Stays up to date with all safety rules and regulations and holds self and team accountable
  • Supports the Safety Coordinator and Production Supervisor to promote a safe work environment
  • Supports effective communication between the production team and Quality Assurance, participating in incident investigations, and implementing operational corrective and preventive actions
  • Supports effective communication between the production team and engineering, calling for and coordinating maintenance for all packaging equipment to limit production downtime
  • Trains and uses leadership techniques to build an effective team
