About The Position

The Production Team Lead supports all aspects regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost (SQDC) of the assigned production Value Stream(s). The Value Stream (VS) is defined from receipt of materials through the shipment of goods to the customer. The Production Team Lead will lead, coach, and influence all direct employees affiliated with the Value Stream (VS). This position will interact with the Value Stream Leader, Director - Operations/Manufacturing Manager, other Production & Technical Supervisors, Project Engineers, Program Managers, Customer Operations, and Quality in carrying out duties and responsibilities and will interface with the Customer as needed. This is a 2nd-shift PTL position.

Requirements

  • Exhibits strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions, and decimals.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and follow training materials and work instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of MSDS and their use.
  • Proper use of safety and personal protective equipment.
  • Good supervision skills – communication, coordination, recognition, coaching.
  • Ability to work 24/7 schedule.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Relevant Work Experience: Worked in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum High School Graduate with relevant work experience.
  • Experience may be substituted for education at management’s discretion if the candidate has demonstrated the knowledge necessary to perform assigned duties.

  • AS in Technical curriculum highly preferred.
  • Lean training or experience desired.
  • Manufacturing leadership strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Put Safety first at all times, never compromise on safety for the obtainment of other objectives. Responsible for health and safety of themselves and coworkers.
  • Ensures operational goals are met in the areas of Safety, Quality Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
  • Support and lead continuous improvements in the areas of SQDC.
  • Observe, support, & contribute to Company safety programs, policies & initiatives. Implement and continually monitor safe work practices in Value Stream. Conduct required safety & environmental audits, 5S audits, JHA assessments, identify hazards, and assure that all other employees follow safe work practices.
  • Working Production Lead with some time delegated to administrative duties.
  • Track daily / weekly production, give updates daily and identify problems.
  • Ensure the flow of subcomponents through the cell “bottle necks”.
  • Schedule Attainment with outside support operations, i.e. Weaving, Molding, Machining, Quality, Shipping, etc.)
  • Write MRs as well as work with Engineers to clear parts from MR as needed.
  • Provide work direction to workers assigned to the work cell, coordinate vacation and lunch/break coverage, obtain overtime coverage as approved.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in solving production problems utilizing root causes analysis tools as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and provide training of Technicians.
  • Contribute to process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Housekeeping and organization (5S) of the work cell.
  • Raw materials & general supplies needed are present at each work station and surplus materials are properly stored.
  • Ensure proper completion of production and traceability documentation is present at all work stations.
  • Set-up and operate key equipment in work cell. Help in establishing, implementing, and sustaining; TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
  • Operate and troubleshoot process monitoring / data acquisition program software (APN system).
  • SAP transactions including but not limited to; Migo, Co11N, MMBE, MD04.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in solving inventory issues; Halb/ ROH counts, min/ max materials, variance reports.
  • Provide input in quarterly review process.
  • Follow Leader Standard Work.
  • Lead Start-up Meeting (Tier 1), Involvement in Tier 2.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed during: Safety Incidents, Evacuation, Inclement Weather.
  • Supervisors are responsible for overseeing their work group including but not limited to: formal evaluations/performance management as set out by the organization, recruitment and developing group cohesion.
