About The Position

The Team Leader will direct the work and parts flow in their respective production area and assist employees in the operation of their equipment. This role involves ensuring safety, training operators, monitoring performance, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The Team Leader will also foster positive working relationships and lead by example in attendance and work performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to obtain TWI 10-hour certification
  • Ability to obtain a fork truck license and to operate overhead crane
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to set direction and make decisions
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Must exhibit high integrity and honesty
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups
  • Ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Responsibilities

  • Obey the plant’s safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns to promote an environment where zero injuries is the expected standard
  • Be available in the work area at all times to assist employees in his/her work and provide coverage when an employee needs to temporarily leave work area
  • Assist as team lead in other departments when needed
  • Assist the supervisor in conducting pre-shift meetings
  • Train operators on standardized work, machine operations and quality inspections
  • Follow-up with each employee weekly to ensure standardized work is being followed and report results, issues and corrective actions to Area Supervisor/Production Manager
  • Review hour by hour performance, take appropriate actions to correct issues and analyze repetitive issues using problem solving techniques
  • Perform minor corrections to equipment or ensure proper personnel are notified
  • Report any non-conforming parts to area supervisor
  • Perform daily audits of work area for 5S and safety guards and verify safety equipment is working. Sign-off safety checklists
  • Follow escalation process when equipment is down
  • Respond to all Andon’s per zone and coordinate correct support group
  • Participate in kaizen events
  • Monitor and assist employees with logging into their equipment and accurately reporting downtime, scrap and other when needed
  • Set-up validation
  • Communicate issues to area supervisor or department manager
  • Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey
  • Foster positive working relationships with all personnel of the division
  • Recommend proposals for improving products, processes, systems and work environment through the Continuous Improvement process and encourage employees to participate in the process as well
  • Lead by example to other employees in attendance and good work performance and by displaying positive behaviors.
  • Follows and supports Magna Body & Chassis’ and Magna’s operating principles
