About The Position

At Zone 5 Technologies, the Production Support Specialist supports daily manufacturing operations through part preparation, finishing, additive manufacturing operations, and general production assistance. The role carries out defined support activities that enable Assemblers, Technicians, and Machinists to perform primary build, integration, and testing work efficiently and safely. It does not own product builds, system troubleshooting, or programming activities, but helps maintain production flow and shop readiness. The Specialist works with engineers, production technicians, and operations teams across multiple programs and value streams. Responsibilities include general manufacturing assistance; supporting rework, teardown, and prototype activities under supervision and defined instructions; maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment; and following safety, quality, and compliance requirements, including AS9100, ESD, FOD, and ITAR where applicable. The role performs part-finishing tasks such as deburring, sanding, filing, cleaning, and surface preparation on metallic, composite, and additively manufactured components; removes support structures from 3D-printed parts; and visually inspects parts for obvious defects, escalating nonconformances as required. The Specialist operates 3D printers according to established work instructions and build travelers, loads and unloads print materials and consumables, removes and post-processes printed parts, stages them for downstream operations, and performs basic equipment checks while reporting printer issues to engineering or maintenance. The role also kits hardware, consumables, and components; stages materials and assemblies; labels, moves, and tracks parts according to inventory and traceability requirements; and supports inventory organization, point-of-use storage, and 5S initiatives.
