About The Position

A Production Supervisor role at Kerry, a global leader in taste and nutrition. This position involves overseeing production processes to meet quality specifications and safety standards, coordinating team activities to maximize efficiency, and assisting in the implementation of new initiatives to improve plant performance. The role requires strong leadership in safety and quality assurance, and involves managing a team of Production Team Leads and Operators. This is a night shift position.

Requirements

  • A four year degree preferred in engineering, food technology or business, or 5 years production supervision with demonstrated effective leadership and performance.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a dairy plant or related industry.
  • Good communication, leadership, planning and organizational skills.
  • Influential track record in training.
  • Good computer/IT skills; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience required.
  • Ability to understand functioning process equipment.
  • Ability to climb mezzanine stairs to access process equipment and computer interface points.
  • Ability to lift loads up to 50#.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to enter freezer spaces with temperatures to -40°F.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently requires the ability to hear and to communicate verbally.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience is desirable.
  • Familiarity with spray drying and powders processing highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates leadership in safety, enforcing rules and encouraging safe behaviors.
  • Endorses Quality & Food Safety Policies and ensures conformance to management systems.
  • Executes production schedules to meet quality specifications and packaging requirements.
  • Coordinates and supervises operators and team leads to maximize efficiencies and minimize downtime.
  • Trains new and existing team members on equipment operations and updates operating procedures.
  • Assists the Production Manager in implementing new initiatives to improve plant performance based on KPIs.
  • Leads and coordinates the employee element of the assigned work group, including hiring, corrective actions, reviews, training, coaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Becomes an expert in overseeing departments such as Fermentation, Dry packaging, Liquid Receiving & filtration & evaporation, Wet Blend operations, and Spray drying.
  • Utilizes SAP and other software for material flow transactions and trains team members on PC, software, PLC, and instrumentation operation.
  • Empowers employees by ensuring they have the necessary knowledge, training, and tools.
  • Assists in implementing new equipment, developing SOPs, and completing product qualification steps.
  • Ensures working instructions and process descriptions are up-to-date, accurate, and accessible.
  • Validates critical control point (CCP) instrumentation to ensure adherence to quality assurance, GMP, and regulatory procedures.
  • Participates in developing production schedules and coordinates daily activities of operators.
  • Reports equipment and instrumentation malfunctions immediately and assists in troubleshooting.
  • Interacts with the Process Development project team to optimize yields and processing parameters.
  • Ensures cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of equipment and facility.
  • Progresses facility initiatives for continuous improvement using 5S principles.
  • Maintains production tracking records and reports for efficiency and KPI reporting.
  • Schedules all production personnel, approves vacation requests, and arranges coverage.
  • Posts the schedule weekly and updates Kronos schedules and time off requests daily.
  • Approves time cards in Kronos weekly.
