About The Position

The Production Supervisor (3rd Shift) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production lines, including obtaining, planning, and preparing a variety of grains/seeds for processing, repacking, or blending according to customer or manufacturing requirements. This role involves operating equipment, performing minor maintenance and machine adjustments, and ensuring effective packaging, including accurate filling, proper bag/box formation and sealing, and correct batch numbering. The Production Supervisor must uphold high standards of safety, quality, and teamwork, ensuring all production lines adhere to GMPs, SOPs, and plant safety rules. They will also be involved in training new operators, building effective teams, and contributing to continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Proficient in English speaking, reading and writing.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematic computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to accurately record data onto documents and keep production records.
  • Must have a strong mechanical background, including PLC’s and pneumatic systems.
  • At least two year’s experience in flour/grain/seed milling (or food manufacturing).
  • Strong team building/leadership skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with safety food audits.
  • Ability to lift and move 50 lbs.

  • Previous management experience a plus.
  • Ability to rotate Supervisory duties between 1st and 2nd shift highly desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining, planning, and preparing a variety of grains/seeds for processing, repacking, or blending per customer or manufacturing requirements.
  • Operating any equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the lines including minor maintenance and machine adjustment.
  • Ensuring that packaging has been completed effectively which includes filling to proper weight, bags/boxes are formed and sealed correctly and have the proper batch numbers.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and teamwork.
  • Ensuring that all production lines are verifying the accuracy of raw materials being processed, including testing requirements, inventory and other customer requirements, in conjunction with customer service, sales, and QA.
  • Following all GMPs, SOPs, and plant safety rules.
  • Preparing the machine for operation by making necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation.
  • Ensuring processing/production lines are operating at maximum efficiency.
  • Selecting proper packaging material and ensuring that it is in good condition.
  • Ensuring that all food safety PC’s are followed.
  • Verifying Machine Operator’s production report accuracy.
  • Ensuring that the areas are maintained and kept clean during and after production.
  • Following production formulas in Dynamics AX and adjusting formulas as needed based on actual production needs.
  • Openly communicating any issues or suggestions to improve the operation of the facility.
  • Working on CI projects and/or leading new projects.
  • Facilitating and conducting safety, QA and other training sessions.
  • Training new operators on all aspects of job and ensuring safety and productivity of all employees.
  • Building effective teams on assigned shifts, in an environment that includes both full-time and temporary plant labor.
  • Performing other duties or tasks as needed.
  • Ability to rotate Supervisory duties between 1st and 2nd shift highly desired but not required.
