About The Position

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Shift Supervisor consist of, but are not limited to, exemplifying the Amcor Behaviors and Values, leading by example, and exhibiting professionalism. This role is responsible for assisting plant management in implementing safety programs and educating associates about safety, acting as a role model on safety leadership, activities, and communication. The supervisor will oversee and direct mold techs, team leaders, and machine operators in their daily performance, focusing on productivity, quality, housekeeping, and safety. They will track manufactured parts for work orders, monitor production rates for workflow, efficiency, and quality, and issue corrective actions for unmet expectations. Performance evaluations and documentation, managing housekeeping of the production area, and overseeing training assignments and probationary periods for new associates are also key responsibilities. This role involves conducting counseling, written warnings, suspensions, and HR-approved discharges, as well as managing department employees by approving/denying vacation requests, verifying time cards, monitoring attendance, taking disciplinary action, and conducting accident investigations. Ensuring accuracy of associate hours in the attendance system and verifying time cards are also required. In the event of an injury, the supervisor is responsible for preparing accident reports through thorough investigation. Additional responsibilities include interpreting company policies, enforcing safety regulations, providing new employee instructions, assigning jobs, scheduling employees, and resolving employee issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environment and loud noise; Hearing protection required at times.
  • Equal amounts of time spent sitting, standing, bending, and lifting/moving.
  • Good communication skills--verbal and written; effectively communicate with customers, both external and internal.
  • Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
  • Proven leader and motivator.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a role model for safety leadership, activities, and communication; assist in implementing safety programs and educating associates.
  • Supervise, oversee, and direct mold techs, team leaders, and machine operators in daily performance, focusing on productivity, quality, housekeeping, and safety.
  • Track and direct manufactured parts as needed for work orders.
  • Oversee production rate of skilled labor to monitor workflow, efficiency, and quality.
  • Issue corrective action notifications for program areas failing to meet quality/delivery expectations.
  • Consistently evaluate and document personnel performance.
  • Manage housekeeping of the entire production area.
  • Oversee training assignments of new associates, evaluate progress during the 90-day probationary period, and recommend discharge or retention.
  • Conduct counseling, written warnings, suspensions, and HR-approved discharges for warranted violations of plant rules.
  • Manage all department employees, including approving/denying vacation requests, verifying time cards, monitoring attendance, taking disciplinary action, conducting accident investigations, and assigning daily work assignments.
  • Ensure accuracy of all hours worked by associates in the attendance system and verify all time cards of hourly associates.
  • Prepare accident reports by thoroughly investigating accidents in the event of an injury.
  • Interpret company policies to employees and enforce all safety regulations.
  • Provide new employee instructions.
  • Assign jobs and schedule employees.
  • Resolve issues with employees.
