About The Position

This role is responsible for managing people and processes in manufacturing to effectively produce a quality product. The Production Supervisor will train, evaluate, and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines. They will also investigate, evaluate, and take appropriate action to maintain quality, production efficiencies, cooperative relations, and resource usage within established standards and guidelines. The supervisor will actively pursue opportunities to improve product quality and production efficiencies.

Requirements

  • 3-5 yrs supervision experience
  • Microsoft Suite
  • strong leadership
  • SPC knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
  • 3-5 yrs supervision experience in a plastic process facility.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for production, quality, safety, employee relations and resource control on the production floor.
  • Train Personnel – Training includes formal and informal methods, and should be accelerated with new, displaced, or unfamiliar workers.
  • Maximize Production Throughout – Responsible for the efficient use of labor and materials to maximize production throughout.
  • Maintain Equipment – Ensure all equipment is in good operating condition and prevent downtime due to mechanical problems.
  • Follow Standard Practices – Ensure equipment is set up to proper manufacturing standards for quality production and efficient operation.
  • Maximize Floor Time – Spend 60-80% of time on the floor, actively participating in the identification and resolution of problems.
  • Review Production Reports – Know reasons for substandard performance and formulate plans to correct them.
  • Effective Verbal and Written Communications – Communicate production and quality issues, maintain equipment condition, ensure proper maintenance practices, and resolve problems.
  • Administer established standards, practices, and procedures. Responsible to meet standard efficiency, scrap loss, material usage, UPH.
  • Direct and Assign Work to Employees – Ensure adequate work is assigned, employees are effectively utilized, and understand their responsibilities and expected duration of duties.
  • Know and Apply Written Safety Procedures – Knowledge and application of all safety manual programs is required. Keep self and employees abreast of changes and updates.
  • Inspect Work Areas – Inspect work areas daily for unsafe conditions & behaviors and correct them immediately. Make direct contact with each employee weekly to discuss job-related safety topics.
  • Investigate Accidents & Near Misses – Report, investigate, and document all accidents and reported near misses in a timely manner.
  • Enforce Safety Rules – Initiate appropriate measures with employees who fail to follow established safety procedures.
  • SPC working knowledge including continuous improvements efforts.
